Stainless Steel 304 / 304L Bulkhead Elbow – Supplier & Exporter in India

A bulkhead elbow is a precision instrumentation tube fitting designed to route tubing through a panel, wall, or bulkhead while changing the flow direction by 90 degrees. Manufactured in stainless steel 304 and 304L, these fittings combine leak-tight sealing with excellent corrosion resistance — making them a dependable choice for fluid transfer, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems.

As a leading bulkhead elbow instrumentation tube fittings supplier and exporter, Kalpataru Piping Solution stocks a complete range of sizes, threads, and end connections for critical applications.

What Is a Stainless Steel 304 Bulkhead Elbow?

A bulkhead elbow performs two jobs in a single compact fitting: it anchors the tube line securely at a panel or enclosure wall using a locknut, and it turns the flow path 90° — vertically or horizontally. One end is panel-mounted with a bulkhead thread and locknut, while the tube ends seal using a two-ferrule compression mechanism.

The two-ferrule design uses a front ferrule for the primary seal and a back ferrule for tube grip, secured by a ferrule nut — delivering a vibration-resistant, gas-tight connection without welding.

Why Choose SS 304 / 304L Material?

Grade 304 (UNS S30400) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel, offering strong corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength, and easy maintenance. Grade 304L (UNS S30403) is the low-carbon variant, preferred where welding is involved as it resists carbide precipitation. Both grades handle water, air, gas, oil, and mild chemical media across a wide temperature range.

For matching tubing, see our stainless steel 304 tubes and stainless steel 304L tubes.

Applications of SS 304 Bulkhead Elbows

Bulkhead elbows are used wherever tubing must pass through an enclosure while turning direction: instrumentation panels, control cabinets, tanks and vessels, hydraulic power units, process skids, and equipment enclosures across oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.

Installation Tips for a Leak-Free Connection

Always verify compatibility with your system’s fluid, pressure, and temperature before selection. Insert the tube fully to the shoulder, tighten the ferrule nut per the manufacturer’s turns-from-finger-tight guideline, and use thread sealant only on tapered pipe threads — never on compression ends. For panel mounting, ensure the panel hole diameter and thickness are within the fitting’s locknut range.

Frequently Asked Questions

A bulkhead elbow lets tubing pass through a panel or wall while turning the flow 90°, anchored securely by a locknut — common in instrumentation panels, tanks, and enclosures.
304L is the low-carbon version of 304. It offers better resistance to carbide precipitation after welding, while 304 has marginally higher strength. Both share the same corrosion resistance in most media.
Compression-type SS 304 bulkhead elbows are typically rated up to 6000 PSI, depending on tube size and wall thickness.
Standard sizes range from 1/8″ to 2″ NPS (3mm to 50mm OD) with NPT, BSP, or BSPT threads.
